Christmas Nails

Did some Christmas-y nails last night. It was fun.
I used a base coat then 4 coats of Sinful Colors "Gogo Gal" then a top coat. I then added
1 coat of Sinful Colors "Call You Later" and a top coat!
I broke a nail grocery/christmas shopping the other day so they are even shorter. I can't stand having them different lengths. :) I don't mind them short!
Happy Holidays!

Tried OPI and baking today...

Tried OPI nail polish for the first time. I got an email for $15 off anything at Sephora and
I ended up ordering this OPI nail polish called "Worth My Weight". Cute name eh?
Pretty Christmasy I'd say.
I've got some Cream Of Wheat bread baking and I already baked some Oatmeal Scotchies. :) YUM!

Shorter nails, messed up, still not feeling hot. :)

My nails were way longer than I could stand so I cut them. I messed up the pinkie finger during the polishing. :)
This is Mabelline's Express Finish 50 second Nail Polish. The color number is missing. HUM!
Very nice mild frosty color.
My throat is still a tad sore and bothering my ears some too.
I've got to get the decorating done this week along with grocery shopping and FINISH my Christmas shopping.

Haven't been feeling well and nail polish. LOL!

Haven't been feeling so well this week. I went to watch my newest grandson Mason a few weeks ago and he ended up sick. I had to smooch him some and I got sick. Just the head thing. Headache, sore throat, stuffy, sneezy, sleepy, dopey. LOL.
He's worth it!
I was playing with some $1 nail polish from E.L.F. and the color is Coral.
Pretty cool. :)
Feeling some better so I ought to sort out the Christmas stuff.
Bread baking maybe next week. :)

Bread Baker’s Apprentice: CHALLENGE #22 Pain de Campagne

"S"OO finally I'm back to baking. :)
Here is my try at the BBA Challenge #22 Pain de Campagne.
Easy and so very tasty. Lots of flavor. I ate the "S" and one big roll with turkey, lettuce, and mayo for lunch. YUM!
Along with the "S" and the two rolls I made a round loaf. I clipped into it with scissors but very tiny snips to create another "S". :)

Bread Baker’s Apprentice: CHALLENGE #21 Pain a l’Ancienne

I baked the Bread Baker’s Apprentice CHALLENGE
#21 Pain a l’Ancienne into a PIZZA as suggested. It was awesome.
I reduced the recipe down to make just the one thin pizza. I used alfredo sauce, pineapple, ham, and shredded taco cheese. Yes, taco cheese.
Albert and I both loved it. I will be making this again.
There is only two pieces left which is just enough for my lunch tomorrow.

Bread Baker’s Apprentice: CHALLENGE #20 Multigrain Bread Extraordinaire

This recipe is AWESOME even though I ended up with an 'air hump'! LOL!
The only changes I made was 'instead' of the 3 tablespoons of brown rice I used the same amount of ground flax seed and when I did the soaker I added over twice the water and just didn't add it in later on. Oh and I did not use Polenta. I hate that stuff. It is too harsh and crunchy. I used cornmeal. :)
I have to say that Albert and I really enjoyed it. You can tell because over half of it was gone at lunchtime. :)
It does make the very best toast ever and I mean ever.
YUM. This will be one I will be sure to make again.

Bread Baker’s Apprentice: CHALLENGE #19 Marbled Rye Bread

This is my try with the BBA Challenge recipe #19 Marbled Rye Bread.
I cut the recipe in half as I only wanted one loaf. The loaf was huge
but very tasty. :)
I guess I didn't understand how to roll the two doughs together to get a nice pattern. LOL.
YUM!

Bread Baker’s Apprentice: CHALLENGE #18 Light Wheat Bread

I baked the BBA challenge recipe # 18 today which is Light Wheat.
I made rolls because I like rolls better. :o) They turned out great. Very yummy.
Being able to bake more is one good thing about the cooler weather!

Today a busy one:

Today was a busy one: laundry, sweep, vacuum through, clean tub (try to) LOL, reconcile accounts, run and clean out dishwasher, clean porch, get cold meat and cheese downtown, clean cupboards under sinks and various other little thingies.

:o)

I also baked my own birthday cake and decorated it. :) NOPE it isn't my birthday today but it will be on the 19th.To celebrate we are taking Ron, Erica, Andy, Melissa, Drew and Mason to Lake Placid tomorrow. We rented a big van thingy to haul us all. We plan to leaf peep, eat out at Charlie's, walk the shops, and go up White Face Mountain if it isn't too cloudy.I'll be 54 and I can bake and decorate my own cake if I want. LOL!

Bread Baker’s Apprentice: CHALLENGE #17 Lavash Crackers

Here is my try at the Bread Baker's Apprentice Challenge #17 Lavash Crackers. :)
Very easy to make. Very tasty!
Would I make these again? YUP!
Would I eat most of them? YUP!
Awesome!
Do you see my "S"? LOL!

Bread Baker’s Apprentice: CHALLENGE #16 Kaiser Rolls

I finally took the time to get back at baking today. I made the BBA Challenge #16 which is Kaiser Rolls. Very easy and VERY tasty.
I took my "S" cookie cutter to design the rolls because I didn't have a
Kaiser Stamp and I didn't want to roll the dough into logs. :)
Can you see the S's????????

Back from vacation:

Just got back Wednesday from our 26 day Harley cross country adventure. We had a
great time and saw 'so' very many wonderful things. :) Our trip was almost 8,000 miles from
here in northern NY to CA and back. If interested, you can check out our blog. Just click at
the right at the first entry in July and look through the posts. :)
I will get back into baking this coming week hopefully.
Sorry but I won't be commenting on what I've missed on the google BBA group. I had over 100 emails and no time to go through them. I'm sure there were many great breads made and lots learned.

Bread Baker’s Apprentice: CHALLENGE #15 Italian Bread

Last one until late August or early September! I promise! :)
Here is my try with the Italian Bread recipe from the Bread Baker's Apprentice book. This is the 15th recipe and it puts me ahead until I return from our vacation. YEHA!
It has been so cool here that today I wanted to bake instead of kicking up the furnace. Suppose to be another cold one tonight.

This is a very tasty bread. SO VERY GOOD. I will most definitely be making this again.
UM, DO I SEE AN "S"? LOL!
SO very good! Trust me!
This has been so much fun!

Bread Baker’s Apprentice: CHALLENGE #14 French Bread

Here is my try with the French Bread from the BBA book!
I think I had it on too low of a rack. The tops didn't brown as nice as I think they should have. It did register the 205°!
The chew and crunch of the crust is nice and the crumb is very tasty.
I've got a feeling this will be it until I get back from vacationing!
Don't cry, no there is no "S"! I think I've had enough of "S"s! LOL!
Happy Summer to you all!

Bread Baker’s Apprentice: CHALLENGE #13 Focaccia

Here is my try with the Focaccia recipe. It is the 13th recipe in the Bread Baker's Apprentice Challenge. :)
THIS IS THE VERY BEST ONE YET!
Very easy and the taste is out of this world.
Who doesn't love all that olive oil and herbs? YUMMY!
Where is my signature "S"?
Here it is:
Sensational, Stupendous, Succulent, Savory, and Susie's!
Yes, I know I'm way ahead! I'm on the first week of August. I will be gone all of August so I'm trying to get to the end of August with the challenge so I will be where everyone else is when I return. I have two more to get to before I go. I don't know if I will find time or not. :)

Bread Baker’s Apprentice: CHALLENGE #12 English Muffins

WOW, this was the most fun, the tastiest and greatest recipe yet. It was so quick, so easy and such great results. YEHA!
Here are the English Muffins rising! There was a prior rise too! I added the amount of liquid listed plus added 1 tablespoon. Your addition of liquid may be different due to humidity, age of flour, type of flour etc. :)
Here they are frying. Next time I would do without the vegetable oil in the pan. Could taste it a touch and don't need it with a Teflon pan. The electric pan works perfect as they are all cooked at the same temp and can be done all at the same time.
I fried them 5 on each side and baked for 6! :)

Cooling!
"S" anyone? LOL!
Crumb!
Crumb again! Will definitely make these again and again.
