Bread Baker’s Apprentice: CHALLENGE #14 French Bread

Here is my try with the French Bread from the BBA book!
I think I had it on too low of a rack. The tops didn't brown as nice as I think they should have. It did register the 205°!
The chew and crunch of the crust is nice and the crumb is very tasty.
I've got a feeling this will be it until I get back from vacationing!
Don't cry, no there is no "S"! I think I've had enough of "S"s! LOL!
Happy Summer to you all!

  15. I've made the French baguette yesterday. Nice crusty on the outside and dense in the middle without any big holes. Lack in salt. We liked them but they were not rated 10/10. Hope someday to find a baguette recipe that makes big holes in the center. Yours look really nice.

  16. Thanks Helene. I didn't get holes but taste is most important and this was real tasty.
    Have fun,
    Susie

  17. Mmm, I love French bread, and yours looks great. I haven't actually tried baking it, though--the recipes usually scare me a bit. I'm looking forward to trying it though, since PR's directions are always so good.
