Here is my try at the BBA Challenge #5 Casatiello.
I added 'lots' of bacon bits, pepperoni and Swiss cheese.
I'm not sure why I decided to do a braid. I guess because I had never done one before. I see that next week it calls for a braided Challah. LOL. OH well I'm all practiced up.
Hope the "S" is obvious enough. :o)
Looks yummy!
ReplyDeleteHoneyB,
ReplyDeleteWow, you're fast. :) Thanks. It really is very tasty. I can't get over the crust being so flaky. Again a lot of butter. :)
Thanks,
Susie
Very pretty -- love the bacon bits. I feel so behind! I'm still trying to figure out if I have time to make brioche this week.
ReplyDeleteATigerinTheKitchen,
ReplyDeleteThanks! :)
You aren't behind as long as you finish the whole book in order some day. Not a race but just fun. :)
Susie
This looks delicious! I love your "S" signature that you put on every bread.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to do this one. But I have at least one brioche variation to do first!
gorel,
ReplyDeleteThanks. This is my favorite so far from the BBA book. The Artos being the next. :)
Have fun,
Susie
Beautiful Susie. I'm looking forward to this one. You are speeding ... is that because you ride a harley? ;) I know I'm silly.
ReplyDeleteMyKitchenInHalfCups,
ReplyDeleteThanks! :)
LOL!
I'm speedy because we will be traveling from here in NY to CA the month of August and I'll be missing out on 4 recipes then. I want to try and get a head a little. :)
Thanks again,
Susie
That looks really good. But my question is "When do I get to try out your goodies, I just live down the street"
ReplyDeleteDeb
Deb,
ReplyDeleteThanks!
I'll share my goodies when you share your wine! LOL
Susie
Love, love, love it Susie! Now you've got me thinking that I might want to try the braid when I do mine.
ReplyDeleteThe only thing Mags with trying the braid now is that the next recipe is a braid too but that's ok. :)
ReplyDeleteSusie
That looks delicious! I would love a big slab right now.
ReplyDeleteNatashya,
ReplyDeleteThanks, come on over. :)
Susie
I just finished the brioche and haven't posted yet, but I can't believe you put bacon bits and salami (and the cheese, of course) in this one after making the rich man's brioche! You are very brave; I've increased the length of my daily hikes in the hills and my jeans are still getting tighter. With 40 or so breads to go! :)
ReplyDeleteYour braid with its "S" looks very cool.
Hi Janice,
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see your brioche.
Yes, this is the recipe after the brioche. I didn't use salami. I used the soft bacon bits in the package from the store (the whole thing) and some cut up pepperoni and swiss cheese.
I need to get out more walking too. :)
Thanks for liking my braid,
Susie
I love the braid idea and of course the S on top. I am baking another batch today because we already finished the ones I made last Monday. That's how much we like this bread.:)
ReplyDeleteI'm also excited about the next, challah, which is our favorite.
Oggi,
ReplyDeleteThanks! The next recipe is a braid BUT I may do something different. We are all rebels. :)
Susie
Looks great, Susie! My husband would love it--he likes pepperoni and swiss cheese and I don't. =) I haven't decided yet what to put in mine; I'm still working on the regular brioche and trying to get my bagels posted.
ReplyDeleteThanks Di! My husband and I like everything so it is easy to bake and cook. :)
ReplyDeleteHave fun and can't wait to see your postings.
Susie
Susie, that looks fantastic! I may have to call you for instructions and moral support when it comes time to braid my Challah, as I've never done a braid before!
ReplyDeletegaaarp,
ReplyDeleteThanks! Call me? I was a virgin braider. I know you will do great. I may do something different with my Challah seeing I already did a braid. :)
Have fun,
Susie
You are a foot ahead!! very nice bread, I'll make mine next weekend, last one I made bagels again to please my father in law
ReplyDeletenico
Thanks Nico. :)
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see yours,
Susie
Wow, I love how you shaped it--so cool! Gorgeous loaf. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Sara. :) This has all been so much fun.
ReplyDeleteSusie
The braid looks good! I was just going to throw mine in a wicker basket because I do not have any brown paper bags floating around.
ReplyDeleteI am thinking salami and bacon cheddar cheese for mine.
Nicely done!
Thanks Jeff. Can't wait to see what you come up with. Your salami, bacon cheddar cheese sounds great.
ReplyDeleteSusie
Susie,
ReplyDeleteI love how you put an S on almost every bread. It reminds me of LaVerne of LaVerne and Shirley, you know how she had the big L on everything! Makes me smile too.
Devany,
ReplyDeleteThanks! I don't know how long I can keep the "S" going. :)
Susie
I'm always going to be behind in commenting as I am baking with the BBA Slow & Steady group (posting every other week), but late or not, I wanted to say that this is just lovely and I would never in a million years have thought to braid it, so this was very interesting and fun to see. You have such a way with breads...okay, in 2 weeks I will comment on the Challah, but I did sneak a peak! Lovely, lovely.
ReplyDeleteKayte,
ReplyDeleteYou're not behind really seeing we can do this as fast or as slow as we want. :)
Thanks for liking my bread.
Susie
