Here is my try with the French Bread from the BBA book!
I think I had it on too low of a rack. The tops didn't brown as nice as I think they should have. It did register the 205°!
The chew and crunch of the crust is nice and the crumb is very tasty.
I've got a feeling this will be it until I get back from vacationing!
Don't cry, no there is no "S"! I think I've had enough of "S"s! LOL!
Happy Summer to you all!
Beautiful scoring and crumb! The loaves are wonderful.
ReplyDeleteI will miss you while you're on vacation. Have fun!:-)
Oggi,
ReplyDeleteThanks, it was a fun one to do.
AH geesh thanks Oggi. I'll miss you too.
Thanks,
Susie
What! Tired of Ss, never. No doubt you'll surprise us with a later one ;)
ReplyDeleteYou are rolling on these.
MyKitchenInHalfCups,
ReplyDeleteJust can't think of anymore "S" things and I forgot this time. Too much of a hurry. :)
Thanks,
Susie
Nice looking loaves! I love to make French bread: it's so simple and satisfying. It always makes me think, "This is what homemade bread should be."
ReplyDeleteHave a nice vacation!
Gaaarp,
ReplyDelete:) Thanks! It sure is tasty.
Thanks I'll miss all of you.
Susie
Beautiful crumb on that French Bread!
ReplyDeletehaleysuzanne,
ReplyDeleteThanks! It is a nice tasty chewy bread. :)
Susie
Boy, you are fast! Working on #8, I believe. Need to post the ciabatta.
ReplyDeleteYou are speedy, and doing a great job!
Laura,
ReplyDeleteThanks! :)
We have had a lot of cool weather to bake with so I've been taking advantage of it. :)
Have fun and I'll be watching for your Ciabatta.
Susie
I think your crumb is wonderful! And yes... we're going to miss you when you're gone. Hurry home, OK?
ReplyDeleteWow, you are so far ahead! Your french bread looks lovely!
ReplyDelete:) Thanks Mags.
ReplyDeleteHurry home? Now why would I do that. LOL.
Have a great rest of your summer. :)
Susie
PheMom,
ReplyDeleteI 'have' to get ahead! I'll be missing 'all' of August. :)
Thanks,
Susie
I've made the French baguette yesterday. Nice crusty on the outside and dense in the middle without any big holes. Lack in salt. We liked them but they were not rated 10/10. Hope someday to find a baguette recipe that makes big holes in the center. Yours look really nice.
ReplyDeleteThanks Helene. I didn't get holes but taste is most important and this was real tasty.
ReplyDeleteHave fun,
Susie
Your loaves look fantastic!
ReplyDeleteThanks Heather. :)
ReplyDeleteMmm, I love French bread, and yours looks great. I haven't actually tried baking it, though--the recipes usually scare me a bit. I'm looking forward to trying it though, since PR's directions are always so good.
